Privacy policy
Last updated: 3 November 2026
This explains what personal information Moore IT Help collects, why, and what your rights are. I try to keep it short and plain. If anything is unclear, just ask.
Who I am
Moore IT Help, Carlisle, Cumbria. I’m the “controller” of your information under UK data protection law. You can contact me at help@mooreithelp.co.uk.
What I collect and why
When you use the contact form or email me
Your name, email address, the subject and your message. I use them to reply to you and arrange any help. My legal basis is that it’s needed to respond to your request, or to take steps towards a booking you want (legitimate interests and contract). The form also records the date, time and your IP address, which I use to block spam and abuse.
When you book or I do work for you
Your contact details, address (for home visits), details of the problem and the work done, and payment records. I keep these to provide the service, keep accounts, and handle any follow-up questions. Keeping financial records is also a legal requirement.
During remote or on-site sessions
I may see information on your screen or device while fixing a problem. I only look at what’s needed, I don’t copy or keep your files, and I don’t ask you to share passwords. If I’m ever sent a password, I won’t store it.
When you buy a tutorial
Your name, email address and payment confirmation, so I can send your private video link and handle any questions.
Who else sees your information
- SumUp takes card payments and bookings. They handle your card details. I never see or store full card numbers. See SumUp’s own privacy notice.
- My email and hosting providers store the messages you send and the website itself.
- Google Fonts supplies the fonts on this site. Loading them sends your IP address to Google.
- YouTube or Vimeo may host free tutorials. Their player only loads when you press “Watch”, and they may set their own cookies or collect information as described in their policies.
- RustDesk, the remote support tool, only runs when you download and open it for a session.
I don’t sell your information or use it for advertising, and I only share it where the law requires.
Cookies
This website doesn’t set its own cookies and doesn’t use analytics or advertising trackers. The only exceptions are third-party players such as YouTube or Vimeo if you choose to watch a video.
How long I keep it
- Contact form messages and enquiries that don’t lead to work: up to 12 months.
- Customer and job records: up to 6 years, for accounting and in case of a dispute.
- Spam-prevention records (IP address activity): about an hour.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how I use it, or receive a copy. Email me and I’ll reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though I’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes
If I change this policy, I’ll update the date at the top.
